You must think of Facebook as a cool social platform where you can upload status, share pictures and videos, read funny or inspiring stories and stalk crushes, right? But did you know that there is more to it, as the makers of Facebook allow you to customise your profiles as well.
Did you know that you can add a nickname on your Facebook profile, so that your friends know what you are lovingly called? Also, you can go from 'in a relationship' to 'single' without announcing it to everyone in your friend list.
Here are some cool things we never knew Facebook lets us do.
1. Nickname
In the About section next to the Timeline section, click on Details About You. There you have an option of adding nickname, birth name, maiden name, alternative spelling, married name, father's name, birth name, former name, and name with title. Click on Save Changes and you are good to go. These changes are public and anyone would be able to see that on your profile.
2. Turn Off Notifications
So you couldn't resist the urge to comment on the cute picture of your friend's daughter, and are now annoyed because all of her friends are commenting on it, buzzing your cell with notifications every second. Don't worry, there is an option of turning off notifications from a particular post. Just click on the down arrow on the right side of the post, and click on Turn Off Notifications. Now you would only be notified when your friends thanks you with a tag.
3. Announcing relationships
If you don't want the whole world (read your friend list) to know if you are in or out of a relationship, you can do that by changing your privacy setting under Family and Relationships to Only Me. Click on the gray globe, which means Public, and select Only Me from the dropdown menu.
4. Editing Images
When you upload an image from the mobile app, you can retouch the lightings by touching the magic wand at the left corner. You can also add stickers to the image or write text in the color of your choice. This is how you can make images funnier.
5. Security
If you logged in through someone else's system and forgot to log out, you can do so from your own system. Just go to the security checkup link from here and click on Review Logins. This would list all the browsers you were logged in from and you can log out from them by one single click. You can also Turn On Alerts so that you get a notification whenever your account is accessed through a system different from your own.
